Research Associate

Research Associate. Participate in research related to the genesis of symptoms of Parkinson's disease. Design, execute and analyze experiments investigating the electophysiological properties of neurons in the subthalamic nucleus and sbstantia nigra - two areas of the basal ganglia. Present findings at scientific meetings and prepare manuscripts for publication in scientific journals. Principles and techniques: Patch clamp recording including whole cell and perforated patch; cell-attached electrophysiological recordings of living neurons in brain slices visualized through Dodt infragradient contrast or two-photon laser scanning fluorescence microscopy; immunocytochemistry; IgorPro. Ph.D. in Biological Sciences or Medicine* plus two years of experience in the job offered or two years of experience as an Instructor is required. (*Veterinary Medicine is also acceptable). Previous education or experience must include: research on Parkinson's disease; patch clamp recording including whole cell and perforated patch; immunocytochemistry; IgorPro. Any suitable combination of education, training, or experience also acceptable. 40 hrs/wk; 9am-5pm; $46,350/yr.
